Moi
University rugby team showed an impressive performance which earned them a
qualification to the nationwide league with their counterparts Egerton
University.
The team
downed the Hawks of MMU in both home and away matches, a team which is most
feared in the league for its long outstanding prowess in the game.
However, the
school’s rugby captain Remy Wanyama admits that it was not a ride in the park
to semi finals as the league comprised of 18 teams which were all eying for the
coveted position.
“We had to
train extra hard to face and beat teams like KU and MMU which have always
believed that qualification for the nationwide league is an automatic preserve
for them”. Said Wanyama.
He added
that Moi University team by qualifying has proved the critics wrong and
especially those who thought the team was a decimal among giants and could not
make it to the helm.
Wanyama
notes that the team had set its eye on the nationwide league just from the
start when they thrashed both Kenya Polytechnic and Kimathi University in the
quarterfinals and semi finals respectively.
