MOBILE SOIL TESTING IN BUNGOMA COUNTY

Bungoma will be the first county to have a mobile soil testing laboratory after Governor Kenneth Lusaka arrived at Musese coffee mills, Kabuchai sub county to launch the project.

The county department of agriculture says that reduced farm yields informed the need for soil testing where
an Alpha machine which uses infra red technology will test soil fertility and pH level.

The results from the test will be used to give farmers correct recommendation on how to increase crop yields.
Farmers will be charged a subsidized fee of KSH. 800 for the tests.

Governor Lusaka also launched the distribution of free fertilizer to over 400 needy farmers in Kabuchai sub county at the same venue.

Among those who accompanied Lusaka are; County Executive committee member in charge of Agriculture Laurian Kholiko, County Executive for Health Stephen Kokonya and County Assembly majority leader Henry Nyongesa
