County partners with Ampath Kenya to end chronic diseases

Led by Health CeC Margaret Chepkwony and facilitators from Ampath Kenya led by Prof Joe Mamlin, the county government convened a meeting in Turbo sub-county Hospital on Friday where they held extensive discussions on the projects with importance for the region.

This is after Turbo Sub-county was selected to act as a pilot project where the population health initiative will start, before spreading to other remaining five sub-counties.

"Ampath in collaboration with the county government through population health, will be screening and treating all identified chronic diseases at the grass roots. We advise everybody in the county to take part in this unique exercise to ensure their bodies are in good health," said Ms Chepkwony.

"There is need of the partnership so as to fulfill the county's 2014-2018 strategic plan on matters of health. The integration of both programs between the county and Ampath medics has been of great impact in serving the county residents. We want a disease-free Uasin Gishu," added the Health CeC.

Prof Mamlin who is also the founder of Ampath said Ampath’s key role is to tackle all diseases from the community levels before they develop into various tough and uncontrollable stages.
''When facilitators accept our proposal, Ampath and the county government will be able to reduce chronic diseases and save lives," he said.
