Tourism Board to help Noreb counties attract more markets

The eight North Rift Economic Bloc (Noreb) counties are working to ensure that all tourism attraction sites are fully exploited to provide room for both foreign and local tourists.

This is after Noreb governors joined hands and agreed to work together to make sure their counties are fully exploited by improving infrastructure by opening up roads and air-strips for tourists to have easy access to all the tourist sites.

Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno hosted officials from the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB), where KTB Acting Chief Executive Officer Jacinta Nzioka hailed the region's unity.

She further stated that the Board will be meeting Noreb Trade and Tourism CeCs for bench marking and showcasing of the products that can be put on market.

She said this would market the entire region regionally.

Chemno said the region has many tourist attraction sites that if utilized, Noreb will greatly benefit.

"There is need for citizens to appreciate what they have. If we learn to tour the sites, we will promote and boost both the counties and the nation’s revenue. Our people should not wait until foreign tourists bring us revenue," said Chemno.

On his part, Trade and Tourism CeC Philip Melly disclosed that all Noreb Tourism CeCs have been meeting to discuss on the plans for marketing and unifying the region as one.

"We are working on organising the regions caravan which is aimed at enlightening and promoting the tourism sector. Togetherness is a key factor for prosperity,'' said Melly.
